KP announces by-election and senate poll schedule

PESHAWAR: The schedule for by-elections to the local bodies and the Senate general seat has been released in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Election Commission of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, by-elections to 14 vacant seats in 9 districts of the province will be held on October 19.

These districts include Peshawar, Charsadda, Shangla, Lower Dir, Malakand, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, Haripora and Mansehra.

According to the Election Commission, polling will continue uninterrupted from 8 am to 4 pm, and the returning officers will announce the final results on October 22.

On the other hand, the schedule has also been released for the election to the general seat of the Senate, which fell vacant after the disqualification of Senator Shibli Faraz.

According to the Election Commission of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Senate election will be held on October 30, while Provincial Election Commissioner Saeed Gul has been appointed as the returning officer for this process.

Nominations will be accepted on October 8 and 9, while the preliminary list of candidates will be published on October 10.

Scrutiny of the papers will be completed by October 13, and appeals against approval or rejection can be filed by October 15.

The revised list of candidates will be released on October 18, while candidates will be able to withdraw their papers by October 20.
