KP Govt Solar Scheme 2024: Check eligibility & process here for 2kilowatt solar setup

PESHAWAR: Solar energy is the only viable option amid skyrocketing electricity bills and after Punjab and Sindh, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is also planning to distribute solar panels to the needy.

As per the details, the provincial government of KP has now made a program to distribute free solar panels to 1 lakh households in the region. Adviser to Chief Minister Gandapur on Finance Muzammil Aslam disclosed the move.

Each house will get a complete 2 kW solar setup, batteries, DC fans and an inverter, Muzammil said. He explained that the government is trying to equip 1 lakh households with these free solar panel systems.

He also highlighted KP’s existing infrastructure of over 90 power plants that produce electricity at rates between Rs 6 to Rs7 per unit, contrasting sharply with the Rs27 per unit charged by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

In the first phase, only protected consumers will be able to apply for the government-subsidized solar scheme.

Punjab & Sindh Solar Scheme 2024

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah announced to provide electricity to 2 lakh households with the support of World Bank. Each home will get a complete solar system for Rs7,000, which includes solar panels, charge controllers and batteries to run a fan and three LED bulbs.

Maryam Nawaz also approved distribution of 1 kilowatt solar system to thousands of families. This decision was taken in a meeting held to review energy projects under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Solar systems will be supplied to low energy customers, consisting of two solar panels, batteries, an inverter and associated wiring.
