PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to auction number plates in the names of President Asif Zardari, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and founder PTI Imran Khan and other important political figures.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Fakhar Jahan said in a conversation with a private news channel that the auction of fancy and unique choice number plates containing the names of political and national figures will be held on January 27 at Nishtar Hall Peshawar.
According to Fakhar Jahan, the bidding for fancy number plates will start at Rs 1 million, while the highest bidder will be given a number plate in the name of his favorite political or national figure.
He said that in phases, number plates named after other national leaders, famous personalities, regions and nations will also be included in the auction.
The provincial minister said that vehicle owners are taking great interest in the auction process and this initiative will significantly benefit the national exchequer. Citizens have started applying through the Dastak app to obtain unique number plates.
According to the Excise and Taxation Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a formal advertisement has been issued regarding the auction of fancy number plates, while citizens can submit applications through the Dastak app to participate in the auction.
The last date for submitting applications has been set as January 26, 2026.
