Lahore court summons Imran Khan in Zaman Park police attack case

LAHORE: A local court in Lahore has summoned former prime minister Imran Khan and issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Senate opposition leader Shibli Faraz in the case of an attack on Islamabad police outside the former’s Zaman Park residence.

The case, registered at Lahore’s Race Course police station in 2023, was heard at Lahore’s Cantt Court today.

During the hearing, the court issued a summons order for PTI founder through the jail authorities, as he is currently incarcerated in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.

Subsequently, the hearing of the case was adjourned till July 30.

Earlier, an Islamabad trial court on Thursday sentenced 10 PTI workers to six months in prison in three cases registered against them in connection with the November 26 protest.

According to details, more than 100 PTI workers were named in these cases registered under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act.

Bushra Bibi, wife of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur were also named.

Two of the three cases were registered in the federal capital’s Ramna police station, while one was registered in Tarnol police station.
