LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC)  has taken a significant step towards increasing transparency and accessibility by launching a new smartphone app to keep the public informed about court hearings.

The plan has been set in motion on the approval of Chief Justice Aaliya Neelum and directed by Additional Registrar IT, Jamal Ahmed. The users will be able to know and get information about court proceedings through real-time notifications via the High Court’s website and mobile app.

Among the many expected advantages are that updates on the status of a case can be accessed at any time and from anywhere without necessarily going to the courts. This will help reduce the need for unnecessary calls to or visits to court.

It will go a long way in making legal information accessible to many people, particularly in remote areas. It will also make communication better between courts, lawyers, and litigants, thereby enhancing efficiency and reducing travel and paperwork costs to pursue the case.

Although the app is still work in progress and unavailable just yet, it sets an exciting tone for something that would certainly do great in making the judicial system in Pakistan an even better system.
