Lahore ranked among the safest cities in the world

LAHORE: The Provincial Capital of Punjab, Lahore, has ranked among the safest cities in the world, according to the 2025 Numbeo Crime and Safety Index.

Lahore has been ranked 37th for low crime and 63rd in overall safety by the index, surpassing 249 international urban centres.

The City has ranked above other prominent capitals of the West, including London, New York, Paris, New Delhi, and Washington, DC.

The crime rate has reduced by 50% from April 2023 to April 2024 in reported crimes, varying from 67,000 cases to 34,091.

The reduction in crime rates are credited to police due to transformation to data-driven policing, targeted deployment, strict accountability, and politically neutral operations and self-accountability with Over 400 officers faced disciplinary action.

Robbery and murder reduced by 64%, general robberies by 55%, motorcycle theft by 33%, street snatching by 42%, auto theft by 33%, and other vehicle thefts by 39%.

Earlier, in a separate development, a decision was made to launch Pakistan’s first high-speed bullet train between Lahore and Rawalpindi.

The announcement came during a meeting chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi.
