LAHORE: Significant Progress on dividing Lahore into two districts, CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz approves in Principle. In a major development, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif of Punjab approved in principle to split Lahore into two sections.

During the meeting, it was agreed that the division of the city into two parts would take place right after Basant with the aim of lessening the population and burden on the administration.

The focus of the new administrative setup will be the city’s service delivery and governance. With the partition of Lahore, the functions of Deputy Commissioners, police, and municipal systems will be carried out independently.

It was also agreed upon to redraw the boundaries of Lahore’s administration to facilitate all civic services. It is thought that the new administrative division will be of great help in handling effectively the complaints of the public concerning traffic, encroachments, and hygiene.

The Punjab government has mentioned that Lahore’s population is immensely high, and therefore, the separation into two districts will lead to a more efficient public complaint handling.

The CM’s directive has led to instructions being given to the concerned departments to get the preparations done. CM Punjab has directed that the process of Lahore’s division into two districts on an administrative basis be completed today. Some critical measures have resulted in setting up another meeting for February 9th.

The separation of Lahore is viewed as a major step in urban governance reforms in the province. Maryam Nawaz remarked that the splitting of Lahore into two districts has become a necessity for public convenience and better governance.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the new districts would be the site of quick and effective service delivery, which would be made very close to the people. Admin restructuring will allow lasting solutions to traffic, encroachments, and municipal issues.
