Employee jumps off Punjab Assembly building in suicide attempt

LAHORE: A man named Haji Muhammad Yousaf jumped from the old building of the Punjab Assembly in a suicide attempt in the provincial capital Lahore on Thursday.

Muhammad Yousaf, who is a government employee, suffered serious injuries including a severe head injury after falling from the roof onto the ground.

Rescue officials reached the spot and shifted him to a nearby hospital and he is in critical condition.

According to the initial details, Haji Yousaf is one of the old employees of the assembly. His colleagues and eyewitnesses added that Yousaf attended the office in the morning as per the routine, adding that he attempted suicide after having a phone call with someone.

Police reached the spot and started investigating the matter that whether he accidentally fell from the building or tried to commit suicide.

Earlier this year, a woman took her own life by jumping off a tower in the DHA area of Lahore. A woman committed suicide by jumping from the 12th floor of a Goldcrest mall in DHA Lahore.
