LAHORE: The District Administration of Lahore announced a plan to launch an AI traffic learning system to tackle traffic jams on roads.
The decision was taken during a meeting, chaired by Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood, on traffic congestion in the provincial capital. It was decided to utilize AI traffic learning through Safe City cameras on five different points (roads) of traffic obstruction in the city.
Commissioner Lahore said that all the causes of obstruction in the traffic flow will be remedied by continuous AI traffic learning.
Safe City cameras will also help identify illegal parking and traffic jams across the city. The briefing pointed out that clearing illegal structures, and parking, and setting up traffic awareness camps in different towns are already underway in the first phase.
Moreover, the Commissioner directed Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) to remove all waste containers from the main roads to ensure smooth traffic flow. He also directed the Traffic Engineering and Town Planning Agency (Tepa) and the district administration to remove illegal and unnecessary signboards from roads and footpaths.
