LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court in Lahore sentenced the convict to two and a half years in prison and a fine of Rs 100,000. A person was fined Rs 50,000 for searching for bomb-making instructions online.

Hanan Abdullah, who was out on bail, was taken into custody inside the court premises soon after the verdict was announced.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had initially registered a case against Abdullah in 2022, alleging that he was searching for ways to make explosive devices on Facebook. ATC Administrative Judge Manzar Ali Gul, while pronouncing the verdict today, ordered Abdullah to be transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.

The prosecution alleged that Hanan used to contact militants through Facebook. They said that he was also in touch with members of a terrorist organization. Based on the evidence collected by the investigators, the prosecution urged the judge to sentence Hanan appropriately.
