ISLAMABAD: Through the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, the Pakistani government issues passports to its residents in order to expedite their travels and offer them protection while they are outside.
The passport is the sole document that can be used to prove a Pakistani citizen’s identity abroad. For citizens who fulfill the conditions, the directorate processes the applications and issues passports.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports gave the latest update on the urgent passport fee and estimated delivery time for June 2024.
According to the revised fee, the standard 36-page passport for 5 years now costs Rs 4,500, while the urgent processing fee has increased from Rs5,000 to Rs 7,500.
For a 10-year validity period, the normal fee for a 36-page passport has been increased to Rs 6,700. For a 72-page passport with a validity of 5 years, it costs Rs 8,200 for normal processing and Rs 13,500 for urgent processing.
For a 100-page passport valid for 10 years, the new fee surged to Rs 13,500 for regular processing and Rs 27,000 for urgent processing.

The charge for both normal and urgent categories has recently been increased by the government. The current urgent charge for a regular 36-page passport valid for five years is Rs7,500, up from Rs5,000 as of June 2024.
For a 10-year validity period, the urgent fee for a 36-page passport has been increased to Rs11,200.
The expedited cost for a 72-page passport valid for five years is Rs 13,500. The new urgent charge for a 100-page passport that is valid for ten years is Rs. 20,200.
According to information on the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports’ official website, the expedited passport would be issued in five working days.
The on ground situation has altogether changed as the notices pasted at the regional office say that it will take 15 days to issue an urgent passport. The applicants assert that the urgent passport took longer than 21 days to arrive.
