ISLAMABAD: The LPG mafia in Lahore has become out of control and the official price list has become limited to papers only.
The price of LPG has been fixed by OGRA at Rs 308, but in different areas of the city LPG is being sold at Rs 560 per kg, LPG is not available at the official rate in any area and the people are forced to buy expensive gas.
The fixed price of OGRA is Rs 308, but the rates in the market have started skyrocketing and LPG is being sold at Rs 560 per kg in different areas of the city.
Citizens say that every day shopkeepers increase the price by Rs 20 to 30, where can we go, due to the unavailability of gas in homes, they are forced to buy expensive LPG from outside, the most expensive LPG is being sold throughout the city and no one is asking.
According to OGRA, the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) price has increased in June 2026. The price hike applies not only to domestic cylinders but also to the per-kilogram price of LPG.
The current notification states that the LPG consumer price has been finalized at Rs. 308.76 per kilogram, which is a rise of Rs. 4.95 per kilogram against the last month’s rate.
Moreover, the LPG price for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder has been finalized at Rs. 3,643.41.
These revised rates have been effective since June 1, 2026, in accordance with the latest determination by OGRA.
According to OGRA’s notification, the maximum LPG consumer price has been worked out through the inclusion of producer prices, petroleum levy, marketing and distribution margins, transportation expenses, and sales taxes, if any.
In this regard, OGRA stated that the prescribed rates are the maximum permissible prices during the distribution process. However, producers, marketers, and distributors may sell LPG below the mentioned ceiling prices.
