Lt. Gen (r) Chiragh Haider Baloch Appointed as Secretary of Defence Production

Islamabad: In a recent development, Lieutenant General (retired) Chiragh Haider Baloch has been designated as the federal secretary for the Ministry of Defence Production. The appointment, confirmed by a notification from the Establishment Division, entails a two-year contract for the former senior army officer.

Originally from Sahiwal, District Sargodha, Lt. Gen Chiragh Baloch has a distinguished military career. He was commissioned in the Frontier Force Regiment of the Pakistan Army and has held various esteemed positions throughout his service.

Among his notable roles, Lt. Gen Chiragh Baloch has served as the Director General of the Joint Staff Headquarters, Director General of Military Training, and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Infantry Division in Jhelum.

In recognition of his commendable services, Lt. Gen Chiragh Baloch was honored with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) award in 2019 and was subsequently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General – a prestigious three-star army officer rank.

In 2021, he assumed the position of Commander of Corps II in Multan, succeeding Lt. Gen Waseem Ashraf, after previously serving as the DG of Joint Staff Headquarters.
