ISLAMABAD: A majority of the federal cabinet has expressed support for the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) following the province’s ongoing political instability.
During a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, key officials, including the Attorney General and Minister of Law, briefed members on legal options in response to the provincial government’s challenges.
Several cabinet members argued that the deteriorating political and security situation in KP warranted direct federal control, with Governor’s Rule seen as a constitutional option.
The cabinet also suggested consulting opposition parties, including the PPP and JUI, before making a final decision. Further consultations with stakeholders will precede any formal action.
