KARACHI: A man was arrested from Qayyumabad area, Karachi for sexually abusing two minor girls. The incident has sparked outrage on social media after two minor girls, 10 and 12 years old, were allegedly violated by a local area man named Shabbir Ahmed.
The attack has led to resident aggression, who apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the police after subjecting him to physical punishment.
Police authorities state that the suspect had a record of unacceptable conduct and had previously molested other young girls.
The victims attested that there was misconduct on the part of Shabbir Ahmed on many occasions. A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Defence Police Station under sections for the child sexual abuse case, due to a complaint lodged by the family of the victims.
While investigating, officials confiscated many videos from the suspect’s mobile phone that point towards similar illegal acts by the suspect.
Police authorities have forwarded the videos for forensic examination, and police are trying to identify other victims from the footage.
Police sources disclosed that Shabbir Ahmed has had three cases identical to the recent case of child sexual abuse filed against him in the last week and is suspected of molesting a number of children over the years.
The inquiry is still underway, with law authorities promising the public a proper investigation into the incident.
This case follows rising fears over child security in Karachi, whose cases of abduction and molestation have witnessed a worrying increase.
