RAWALPINDI: A man was beaten to death for entering the women’s section of a faith healer’s aastana (establishment) in Rawalpindi on Monday.

Waqas Ali, the victim, was brutally assaulted by the faith healer, who has been identified as Azmat Shah, along with his son and security guards.

The victim’s father Zulfiqar Ali said that his son was thrashed by Shah and five other accomplices for entering the ladies section.

Rawalpindi police chief Faisal Rana took notice of the incident and ordered for a case to be registered against the culprits.

All of the accused persons have been arrested except Shah till the filing of this report.

The issue of fake faith healers is pervasive in Punjab as on February 22 a man posing as one was arrested by police in Multan with a woman having been recovered from his custody.
