Man kills brother-in-law, shoots wife in capital; Attempted armed robbery

ISLAMABAD: A man was killed by his brother-in-law who also shot and injured his wife over a domestic dispute in the federal capital on Sunday.

The Lohi Bher police said that Bahawal Khan had allegedly brutally beaten his wife Mavia and had thrown his 10-month-old daughter against the wall after a domestic dispute 10 days ago. Thereafter, his wife left her husband’s house and went to her parent’s house in Police Foundation F-Block.

Though last night, the suspect allegedly broke into the woman’s house by scaling the boundary wall. There, he murdered his wife’s 26-year-old brother Umair and shot at his wife, who was in the other room, leaving her seriously injured. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the site, however, the suspect managed to flee.  Mavia was shifted to the Benazir Bhutto General Hospital in critical condition.

The police have started an investigation of the case.

Armed robbery

Two robbers were shot in the legs after they attempted an armed robbery in a shop within the remits of the New Town police station.

Police officers said that two armed robbers attempted to rob a store near the Panorama Shopping Mall. They also injured a security guard who tried to resist them.

The suspects managed to flee the site and but chased down by the Dolphin Force.

During an exchange of fire, both robbers were shot in the legs. Despite that, they managed to flee to the federal capital via the IJP Road.

However, on the other end of the road, they arrested by the federal police. The New Town SHO Inspector Raja Mussadiq told the media that the store’s guard was recovering and that doctors had described his condition as ‘out-of-danger’.

Both armed suspects are currently under custody and are receiving treatment at a hospital in Islamabad. He added that once the suspects have been treated, they will be shifted to Rawalpindi where they will be subject to investigations.
