MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has demanded of Prime Minister Imran Khan to resign and quit his office, saying (her father) Nawaz Sharif is innocent and has been wrongly punished.

“The only crime he [Nawaz] has committed is that he did not commit a crime,” said Maryam while addressing a public rally in Mandi Bahauddin on Sunday.

“Selected Prime Minister Imran Khan should resign and quit his office,” said Maryam. “Those who voted for Nawaz are proud to have their heads held high. What crime has he committed for which he is being punished?

“On the one side is the leader of the people Nawaz, while on the other is a coward PM Imran Khan. Allah has made Nawaz glorious in the eyes of the people.”

She said it usually took two-and-a-half hours to travel from Lahore to Mandi Bahauddin, but due to huge crowds everywhere it took her 10 hours. “It shows who the real leader whom the people support is,” she said. “Imran Khan should resign and quit.”

She said after seeing the enthusiasm of the people in Mandi Bahauddin she could easily say that though he was in prison, Nawaz Sharif had still won.
