LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has launched a free heart surgery and treatment programme — Maryam Ki Masihaai — for children with heart conditions at Children’s Hospital in Lahore today.
Chief Minister today inaugurated the ‘Chief Minister Children Heart Surgery Programme’, which aims to provide medical facilities to over 5,000 children each year, and distributed ‘Child Surgery Cards’.
CM Maryam Nawaz said that, under this programme, if public hospitals do not have available space, surgeries for patients will be conducted at private hospitals.
An online dashboard will be set up for monitoring the Children’s Heart Surgery Program, CM Punjab said.
Expressing her immense happiness at launching the programme, CM Maryam Nawaz said children from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other provinces will also be treated under the Maryam Ki Masihaai programme.
In the first phase, heart surgery services for children will be provided at six public and selected private hospitals. The public hospital includes the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Children’s Hospital in Lahore, and Cardiology Institutes in Faisalabad, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
Furthermore, she announced that, in the second phase, hospitals in Wazirabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Sargodha will also offer children’s heart surgery services for free.
