LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has mandated the immediate rollout of the ‘Suthra Punjab Program’ throughout the province.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed that all areas, whether urban or rural, be cleaned comprehensively. She stressed that there must be no neglect in cleaning drains and that no area should be left unclean.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted that the cleanliness conditions in several cities, including Lahore and Sargodha, are unsatisfactory.
This directive came during a meeting led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, which covered the briefing on the ‘Suthra Punjab Program’ and the outsourcing of solid waste management services.
The local government Minister Punjab Zeeshan Rafique stated that the Suthra Punjab Program will be carried out in a phased manner.
After outsourcing sanitation in villages and cities, we aim to turn solid waste into a usable resource,” he said. He also announced a new recycling model focused on waste segregation. This was discussed at a press conference on the Suthra Punjab program at DGPR.
He highlighted that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif introduced the province’s largest cleaning initiative soon after taking office.
Moreover, in March Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif authorized the initiation of the metro bus project in three cities within the province.
She granted this approval during a meeting held in Lahore today, which was also attended by PML-N leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
The meeting assessed various transport sector projects in Lahore. Additionally, the Chief Minister requested a plan for an underground train project in the city.
During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif also instructed to increase the number of bikes available for students and mandated that the monthly installment for these bikes be kept as low as possible.
