KARACHI: At least five people were killed and three others critically injured on Thursday night during an exchange of fire between two groups in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA).
Police officials said both groups, led by Fahad Bugti and Ali Haider Bugti fought over some personal enmity near the latter’s residence on DHA’s Khayaban-e-Nishat.
The deceased and the injured belonging to the Bugti clan were relatives of slain Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti. Police added that three people from one group and two from the other group were killed in the firing.
DIG South said that police have arrested as many as 17 suspects in several raids on Friday and shifted to the different police stations in the district south. He added that the police have recovered weapons from three suspects during the raids.
Among the dead were Fahad Bugti, Mir Mesum Bugti, Mir Esa Bugti, Ali Bugti, and Naseebullah. Mir Ali Haider Bugti and Qaim Ali sustained bullet injuries, Rescue officials said.
On the other hand, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar taking notice of the armed clash sought a detailed report from the Additional Inspector-General Karachi.
Sindh Home Minister said that no one was above the law and every step should be taken to establish its writ. “The incident was a result of a personal enmity and that the deceased and the injured belonged to the same tribe,” he said.
“No one would be allowed to spoil the peace in the metropolis,” declared the minister.
