LAHORE: The marriage of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safdar has been fixed. According to sources, Junaid Safdar’s relationship has been fixed with the granddaughter of senior PML-N leader Sheikh Rohail Asghar.

According to sources, the wedding ceremonies will be held on January 16, 17 and 18, including the mehendi and walima ceremonies in Jati Umra. In this regard, wedding preparations have begun in Jati Umra, while Maryam Nawaz has also ordered the preparation of dresses for her son’s wedding to a well-known dress designer.

PML-N leader Sheikh Rohail Asghar confirmed the relationship and said that the dates of the wedding were fixed after mutual consultation.

He said that Maryam Nawaz came with her elder daughter and son-in-law Raheel Munir with a relationship, which he happily accepted.

According to Sheikh Rohail Asghar, former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif formally invited him and his family for a meal, where a meeting took place between the two families.

Rohail Asghar said that his wife, daughter-in-law and Maryam Nawaz sat down and discussed the marriage, while the relationship had been finalized about two months ago.

Sheikh Rohail Asghar further said that the wedding ceremonies will be kept limited and only close relatives will be invited.

According to him, the joint ceremony of Mehndi will be performed at Jati Umra while the Walima will also be held there.

He also said that Maryam Nawaz’s daughter Mahnoor and her granddaughter have a close friendship, due to which the two families know each other well.

It should be remembered that this is Junaid Safdar’s second marriage. Earlier, he was married to Ayesha Saif, daughter of renowned businessman Saif-ur-Rehman, in 2021, however, this relationship ended in divorce in October 2023. At that time, Junaid Safdar had called the separation a personal matter and requested the media to respect his private life.

Sheikh Rohail Asghar is one of the senior political leaders of Lahore. He belongs to an influential Kashmiri Sheikh family of Droghawala Lahore and has been a member of the National and Provincial Assembly in a political career spanning four decades.

Rohail Asghar was elected on the platform of the PML-N at various times and has also held the position equivalent to a federal minister as an advisor to the Prime Minister during the Shahbaz Sharif government. His family has also been associated with various fields of politics and public service.
