GUJRANWALA: A case has been registered against the owner of the Master City Housing Scheme in Gujranwala for allegedly releasing sewage water into public areas, creating serious health and environmental hazards.

The first information report (FIR) was lodged at Saddar Police Station, Gujranwala, on the complaint of Mohsin Ali, Director Town Planning, Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA).

The FIR, a copy of which is available with Daily Ausaf, accuses the private housing society’s developer, Sheikh Maqsood Iqbal, of discharging contaminated, dirty, and foul-smelling sewage water on roads, open spaces, and plots.

“This act from the housing society owners is causing various human diseases and spreading environmental pollution, a threat to the lives and properties of the people residing in the society,” it stated.

The report further stated that despite multiple warnings and instructions from the GDA to permanently solve the sewage water issue, the management failed to take corrective measures.

Therefore, the FIR added that the case was registered under sections 268, 269, 270, 277, and 278 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which deal with public nuisance, negligent acts likely to spread infection, and pollution-related offenses.
