ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that “If the government does not like something, it silences the opposition.”

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, he said, that I am wondering how this one microphone on the opposition side survived. To which the Speaker explained that it was actually connected directly from here.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman asks the Speaker of the NA to take notice and give a roll call on it.

He said that every government declares its budget as better, but the economy has been in a state of disarray here, adding that we have also seen negative economic growth in previous budgets.

The JUI leader said that last year’s budget targets could not be met either. The general opinion regarding the budget is not good, adding that a peaceful environment is necessary for the country’s economic development.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman added that difficulties are being created for legal marriages, and bills are being passed to restrain the marriages.

Speaking on the current security situation, he noted that there has been continuous insecurity since 9/11, and no one can live in KP or Balochistan without paying extortion.

Insecurity has unfortunately become a part of society, and today, once again, we are on the target of gunpowder and missiles.

He said that the country’s internal and external situations demand government attention.
