ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad has sentenced PTI MNA Abdul Latif and former provincial minister Wazirzada Kailashi to 11 years in prison in the May 9 Ramna Police Station attack case.
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Tahir Abbas Supra announced the verdict in the case.
Four accused individuals, Muhammad Akram, Mira Khan, Shahzeb, and Sohail Khan, were taken into custody after the verdict.
The accused were sentenced to a total of 15 years and 4 months in prison, along with fines. The court also issued arrest warrants for the absent accused.
As per the details, 24 witnesses recorded their testimonies against the accused, and the accused was paraded before the magistrates.
The court verdict stated that the accused attacked the Ramna police station and opened fire and pelted stones, trying to kill the policemen. The accused set fire to motorcycles for their own purposes, it added.
The accused were sentenced to 5 years in prison and a fine of Rs 50,000 for the murderous attack on police, 10 years in prison and a fine of Rs 200,000 for terrorism.
Furthermore, they were handed over with 4 years in prison and a fine of Rs 40,000 for burning the police station, and 4 years in prison and a fine of Rs 40,000 for burning motorcycles.
For interfering with the work of the police, the accused are sentenced to three months in prison, Judge Tahir Abbas Supra said in a verdict.
For violating Section 144, they are sentenced to one month in prison and 2 years in prison for committing a crime in a group.
