KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has decided to provide cheap electricity to backward areas and industries of Karachi.

The instructions were issued by the Chief Minister during a meeting with Chairman K-Electric Shehryar Chishti at the Chief Minister’s House yesterday.

K-Electric CEO Syed Taha, PSCM Agha Wasif and Secretary Energy Shoaib Ansari, among others, were also present in the meeting.

He also directed to prepare proposals to provide cheap electricity to low-income areas and industrial zones, while emphasizing the need to reduce load shedding in backward areas with the onset of summer.

Expressing concern over prolonged power outages in backward areas, the Chief Minister said that the problems of the poor classes have increased with the onset of summer and it is necessary to find workable solutions, especially in poor neighborhoods, to reduce load shedding.
