ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has withdrawn the new Toshakhana reference from the accountability court against the PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

The development comes after the Supreme Court’s verdict last week restoring the NAB amendments laws.

During the hearing of Khan’s bail petition, the NAB prosecutor told the accountability court that the new Toshakhana case no longer falls under its jurisdiction, after restoration of NAB amendments.

Former premier’s counsel Salman Safdar said that after the NAB amendments, this new Toshakhana case should not be created, adding that there is no crime under the current law.

Following NAB’s request, Accountability Court judge Muhammad M. Ali Warraich court passed the judgment to transfer the Toshakhana reference to a Special Judge Central Islamabad.

The Accountability Court ordered that bail applications in the new Toshakhana case will be heard by the concerned court. The new Toshakhana case will be heard by the relevant court on September 10.

During the last hearing, Imran Khan sought acquittal in the NAB cases against him after the Supreme Court rejected Khan’s plea to declare the NAB amendments null and void.
