ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is planning to expand another facility, which will help people avoid long queues to renew their smart National Identity Card.
This came as NADRA showcased its latest biometric innovations during its maiden appearance at Ideas 2024 in Karachi.
NADRA’s display includes the latest biometrics registration and verification devices including a locally assembled all-in-one handheld biometric tablet, mobile enrolment kits, self-enrolment kiosks and contactless iris cameras.
The self-service kiosks will help citizens apply for renewal of expired identity cards and re-issuance of lost NICs.
NADRA has initially planned to launch the service at mega centres, later to be installed at airports, railway stations and shopping malls.
After the installation of the self-service kiosks, citizens will not need a data entry operator or any staff to take and verify their photos and biometrics, as they will do so themselves using the kiosks.
