National Assembly approves strict laws to eradicate polio

ISLAMABAD: Now, legal action will be taken against parents for not vaccinating children against polio, the National Assembly has approved the law, and it has been made mandatory to obtain a certificate of polio vaccination from NADRA.

According to the details, the National Assembly has approved the implementation of strict laws to eradicate polio, refusal to receive polio vaccine will be punishable by a fine of Rs 50,000 for the first time, and Rs 100,000 for the second time, and it has been made mandatory for children under 10 years to receive all doses of polio vaccine.

No certificate will be issued if a parent or guardian deliberately refuses to receive the vaccine, under the new law, it will be mandatory to obtain a polio vaccination certificate from NADRA, and educational institutions will ask for a polio vaccination certificate from children under 10 years.

A 5-year national polio eradication strategy will be formulated for Islamabad, Pakistan is still among the two countries affected by the wild polio virus, the federal government will take special measures to protect frontline polio workers, foolproof security arrangements will be made for polio teams in dangerous areas.

There will be 7 years of imprisonment and a fine for intimidating, threatening or attacking polio workers, the federal government will establish a special support fund for frontline polio workers, a bill based on special measures for the rehabilitation of polio victims has been passed.

Without a polio vaccination certificate, difficulties will be faced in some government affairs, only district and sessions judges will hear cases related to polio vaccination.
