NEW DELHI: Several Bollywood celebrities and prominent public figures have expressed support for educationist and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, whose indefinite hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar has entered its 17th day.
The protest, organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET-UG question paper leak.
Among those backing Wangchuk are actor Omi Vaidya, writer Arundhati Roy, actors Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Abhay Deol, who have voiced support for the protest and called for accountability.
Despite growing public attention and support from well-known personalities, the Indian government has not accepted the protesters’ demands or announced any action in response to the hunger strike. As of now, there has been no official indication that the government intends to meet the demands or intervene in the protest.
The hunger strike continues at Jantar Mantar as protesters seek action over the alleged examination paper leak and greater accountability from the authorities.
