ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has increased the toll tax on national highways and motorways by a huge amount.
The National Highway Authority has issued a notification to increase the toll tax. The increase in toll tax will be effective from April 5. The toll for motorcars on national highways has been fixed at Rs 100, and the toll for cars on the Kohat Tunnel has been increased to Rs 250.
The National Highway Authority has also increased the toll tax on motorways M1, M3, M4, M5, M14 and E35 by a huge amount. The toll tax for cars on the M1 motorway from Islamabad to Peshawar has been increased to Rs 700.
The toll tax for cars on the M3 from Lahore to Abdul Hakeem has been increased from Rs 800 to Rs 1,000, while the toll tax for cars on the M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad and Multan has been increased from Rs 1,050 to Rs 1,300.
According to the notification, the car toll tax on the M-5 from Multan to Sukkur has been increased from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,500, while the motor car toll tax on the M-14 from DI Khan to Hakla has been increased from Rs 650 to Rs 800.
Similarly, the motor car toll tax on the Hassan Abdal, Havelian, Mansehra E-35 has been increased from Rs 300 to Rs 350.
A major increase has also been made in the toll tax for large vehicles on the M-1, M-3, M-4, M-5, M-14 and E-35 motorways, and the toll for articulated trucks has exceeded Rs 7,000 on some routes.
