ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has discovered gas and condensate from its exploration efforts in the Soghri North 1 well located in Attock district of Punjab.
The Soghri North 1 well was drilled as an exploration well on May 21, 2024 and was drilled to a depth of 4,942 meters in the Patala formation. Based on the interpretive results of the wireline log, cased hole drill stem testing (DST-1) was conducted in the Chorgali-Sakisar-Namal-Patala formations, it said on Monday.
“The well flowed (after completion and acid work) 13.95 million standard cubic feet (MMSCFD) of gas with 430 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate through a choke size of 32/64″ at a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 2890 pounds per square inch and 2890 pounds per square inch,” read the press release.
This discovery will reduce risk and increase confidence for further exploration efforts in the Soghri Exploration License.
This discovery will also play a positive role in bridging the energy demand and supply gap from indigenous resources and will increase the hydrocarbon reserves of OGDCL and the country.
