ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari has ordered all power distribution companies (DISCOs), including K-Electric, to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during Sehr and Iftar in the holy month of Ramadan.

According to the Power Division, special standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been issued to all electricity companies to maintain smooth power supply across the country. The minister directed DISCOs to immediately address consumers’ complaints and instructed the chief executive officers of all companies to establish dedicated control rooms for monitoring.

Authorities have also been told to avoid unannounced load shedding and improve coordination to handle public complaints efficiently.

The Power Division said that even in high-loss areas, electricity will not be suspended during Sehr and Iftar. However, load management in such areas may be adjusted at other times of the day in line with the ongoing anti-power theft campaign.

Officials added that the decision aims to facilitate citizens during Ramadan while preventing further increase in arrears and system losses.
