NSC terms attacks on Iranian nuclear sites ‘violation’ of UN charter

ISLAMABAD: The National Security Committee has declared the attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities as contrary to international law and the UN Charter.

A meeting of the National Security Committee was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which federal ministers and military leadership participated.

According to sources, the meeting considered the situation arising from the US attack on Iran and the impact of the Israel-Iran war on the region.

Important decisions were taken in the meeting of the National Security Committee regarding the regional situation as per the sources.

According to a statement by the National Security Committee, the meeting reviewed the regional situation arising from the Israeli aggression against Iran, and the committee strongly condemned Israel’s aggressive actions.

The committee expressed regret over Israel’s military action, along with constructive Iran-US talks, and said that Israel’s aggressive actions increased tensions and fueled the risk of a wider conflict, while Israeli actions reduced opportunities for negotiations and diplomacy.

According to the National Security Committee, the National Security Committee reiterated its determination that Iran has the right to self-defense under the United Nations Charter.

The National Security Committee expressed concern over the further escalation of tensions following the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan and stated that attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities are a violation of the IAEA resolutions, attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities are contrary to international law and the United Nations Charter.

The National Security Committee expressed its condolences to the government and people of Iran for the loss of life and reiterated Pakistan’s close contacts with the relevant parties.

The Committee reaffirmed its willingness to continue its efforts to promote regional peace and stability and urged all relevant parties to resolve the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.
