NUSHKI: In a tragic incident, the number of fatalities from the Nushki oil tanker explosion increased to 20 on Tuesday, officials said.

The explosion occurred on April 28 in Nushki, a town in Balochistan province, when an oil tanker that was on fire near a local market exploded. To avoid a greater tragedy, the driver had moved the truck to a more isolated area from the bus and truck stand.

Unfortunately, a crowd happened to gather around the vehicle when it exploded. The explosion injured more than 40 people, many of whom were seriously burned.

Several victims were taken to Karachi for medical treatment due to a lack of specialized medical care in the area. The explosion reportedly initially killed the driver and left more than 60 people injured, many of which many were serious burns.

Fire intervention was one reported action the professional fire team did as they arrived to extinguish the fire, especially since there was welder work being done on the damaged fuel tank.
