GILGIT: Official results of 17 out of 24 seats of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly have been received, with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) emerging as the leading party so far.
According to the results, the PPP has secured seven seats, independent candidates have won five seats, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won four seats, while Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) has secured one seat.
Among the declared results, PPP’s Amjad Advocate won from GB-1 Gilgit by securing 10,594 votes, while PML-N’s Hafeez-ur-Rehman claimed victory in GB-2 Gilgit with 13,433 votes.
PPP candidate Muhammad Ali Akhtar won the GB-4 Nagar seat with 7,654 votes, while independent candidate Neknam Karim secured victory from GB-6 Hunza with 6,390 votes.
In Baltistan, PPP’s Syed Tauqir Mehdi Shah won from GB-7 Skardu-I with 4,320 votes, while MWM candidate Kazim Maisam secured the GB-8 Skardu-II seat with 10,658 votes.
PPP continued its strong performance with victories in GB-10 Skardu-IV, where Nasir Ali Khan secured 6,582 votes, GB-11 Kharmang, where Iqbal Hussain received 5,944 votes, and GB-12 Shigar, where Imran Nadeem won with 12,944 votes.
In Diamer, independent candidate Muhammad Dil Pazeer won GB-15 with 5,680 votes, while Syed Imam Malik secured GB-16 with 6,320 votes. PML-N’s Kifayat-ur-Rehman won GB-18 Diamer-IV with 5,521 votes.
From Ghizer, PPP’s Syed Jalal Shah won GB-19 with 9,303 votes, while PML-N candidate Abdul Jahan secured GB-20 with 6,917 votes. Independent candidate Aman Ali Amir won GB-21 with 9,938 votes.
In Ghanche, PML-N’s Ibrahim Sanai emerged victorious in GB-22 with 10,136 votes, while independent candidate Anwar Ali won GB-23 with 12,117 votes.
Results for the remaining constituencies are awaited, while the overall political picture is expected to become clearer once all official results are announced.
