ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has taken strict notice of the overcharging of LPG in the country.
According to an OGRA spokesperson, the supervision of the LPG sector has been further tightened. In this regard, field inspections have been started across the country to ensure sale at the fixed prices.
OGRA has also issued instructions to the provincial governments and district administrations to take action in their respective areas.
The OGRA statement said that the official price of LPG for March 2026 has been fixed at Rs 225 per kg. However, its price is being charged in the market at Rs 400 to 450 per kg, which is a clear violation of the laws.
Similarly, a domestic LPG cylinder, whose official price is fixed at Rs 2665, is being sold in the market for about Rs 5,000. OGRA has expressed serious concern over this situation and said that overcharging will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The agency says that if any company or dealer is found charging more than the prescribed price, legal action will be taken against it.
OGRA has also appealed to the public to identify those charging excessive prices so that immediate action can be taken.
