ISLAMABAD: Pakistan, like other nations, is observing World Rainforest Day today on Sunday, June 22, 2025. The day is aimed at raising awareness and encouraging everyone to set some time aside to join the fight to protect rainforests.

Rainforests are partly self-watering, meaning the plants release water into the atmosphere. If we talk about Pakistan, it does not have any rainforests in the typical and tropical sense.

However, it does have various forest types, including subtropical, Himalayan, and mangrove forests, along with man-made forests like Changa Manga.

While the country has diverse forest ecosystems, it’s considered forest-poor, with less than 6% of its land area covered by forests

World Rainforest Day is celebrated annually on June 22nd to raise awareness about the importance of rainforests and to encourage action to protect them. It was launched in 2017 by Rainforest Partnership.
The day highlights the vital role rainforests play in regulating climate, biodiversity, and supporting human livelihoods.
