ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan government will celebrate Youm-e-Tashakur on April 10, which falls on a Friday, because the United States and Iran reached a ceasefire agreement.
The federal cabinet meeting, which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conducted in Islamabad on Wednesday, reached this decision, according to reports.
Regional de-escalation will be recognized through this observance, which follows the Middle Eastern protests that lasted for several days. The federal cabinet chose to observe Friday as a special Day of Gratitude, according to sources, while asking citizens to perform dedicated prayers for the success of current diplomatic talks.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif honored Chief of Defence Force CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir during the meeting. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir received appreciation from cabinet members who thumped their desks while participants congratulated the prime minister, according to sources.
An official statement confirmed that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accepted an invitation to participate in talks in Islamabad, which will take place after the United States and Iran reach a ceasefire agreement.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif talked to President Pezeshkian by phone after US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire, according to the details.
The call lasted almost 45 minutes, and both parties maintained a friendly relationship throughout the conversation. The prime minister praised Iranian leaders for their decision to implement a ceasefire because he believed that peace negotiations would establish lasting peace between the two countries.
