Pakistan weather update: PMD predicts rain and snowfall in different parts of country

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snowfall in different parts of the country today.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain cold and partly cloudy in most parts of the country today, with extremely cold weather expected in the mountainous areas in the morning and night.

Rain is likely to occur at a few places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir this evening and night. Light snowfall is expected in the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir.

On the other hand, the NDMA has issued an advisory regarding snowfall and rain for December 18 from today. According to the NDMA, rain and snowfall are expected in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kohistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Balochistan during this period.

According to the NDMA, the westerly wind system will affect northern and western Pakistan. Due to the possible weather conditions, the intensity of fog is also expected to increase. Light to moderate rain is expected in the plains, while snowfall is likely in the mountainous and upper areas.

Roads are expected to be closed at some places due to snowfall, and light rain is likely in some areas of Quetta, Ziarat and northwestern Balochistan.

The NDMA has issued an alert saying that intermittent light snowfall is likely at several places in the northern areas.
