ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains with thunderstorms in drought-prone areas of Balochistan in December.
The Meteorological Department says that a strong westerly wind stream will enter Balochistan from December 6 to 10, and this stream is predicted to continue intermittently throughout the month.
The rain will end the drought in most districts of the province, including Zhob, Sherani, Musakhel, Barkhan, Kohlu, Sibi, Lasbela, Awaran, Kech, Gwadar, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Qila Saifullah, Chaghi, Noshki, Washak and Mastung.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains with thunderstorms are expected at some places, while snowfall is expected in the upper areas.
According to experts, this year the northwest winds are more active than usual and the moisture coming from the Arabian Sea is moving towards Balochistan, which is why the rains will be prolonged.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to be cold and dry in most parts of the country today, while it is likely to be extremely cold in the hilly areas in the morning and night.
Light to moderate fog is likely to occur at a few places in the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the morning and night.
During the last 24 hours, the weather has remained dry in most parts of the country and extremely cold in the hilly areas, however, light fog prevailed in a few plain districts of Punjab.
