HOUSTON: Tragedy struck a young Pakistani student, Dania Zaheer, in Houston, Texas, when she was severely injured in a hit-and-run accident. The 25-year-old, who had traveled from Karachi to pursue an MBA, was struck by a speeding vehicle, leaving her with multiple fractures.
The driver fled the scene, and authorities are working to identify and apprehend them.
Dania, a top student at her university, had dreams of improving her family’s living standards, but the accident left her devastated.
Fortunately, prominent Pakistani-American businessman Syed Javed Anwar has offered to cover her medical expenses.
The Pakistani Consul General, Aftab Chaudhry, visited Dania in the hospital and assured her of full support for her recovery. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also expressed his condolences and directed officials to assist Dania and her family, including facilitating her parents’ travel to the US if needed.
The incident has sparked an outpouring of support for Dania, who remains in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Her story highlights the resilience and determination of Pakistani students abroad and the strong community support that rallies around them in times of need.
