LAHORE: In a groundbreaking move, the Punjab government unveiled the “Lifesavers Initiative” at the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), empowering students with vital life-saving skills.
This pioneering program, launched in conjunction with World First Aid Week, aims to create a network of trained first-aiders across the province’s educational institutions.
The initiative seeks to equip students with essential skills like CPR and bleeding control, ensuring that every household has a trained lifesaver. Dr. Rizwan Naseer, Secretary of the Emergency Services Department, emphasized the program’s vision of creating a nation of lifesavers.
LCWU Vice Chancellor Uzma Qureshi described the program as a vital investment in the youth’s future, urging students and teachers to embrace the training enthusiastically.
The university has already trained thousands of students as lifesavers through an intensive three-day session.
The “Lifesavers Initiative” will be rolled out across universities and colleges in Punjab, with Rescue 1122 leading the charge. Punjab Ministers Khwaja Salman Rafique and Rana Sikandar Hayat pledged to expand the program to all educational institutions, fostering a culture of safety and preparedness.
In a powerful display, LCWU students showcased their newly acquired skills in CPR and bleeding control, vowing to promote the life-saving campaign among their peers. This initiative marks a significant step towards creating a safer, more resilient Punjab.
