ISLAMABAD: In a positive development for regional tourism and trade, Pakistani citizens can soon benefit from the e-visa and visa-on-arrival facilities offered by Tajikistan.

The announcement came after a series of high-level meetings between Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Tourism Sardar Yasir Ilyas and senior Tajik officials during his recent visit.

During the talks, Tajik officials assured that steps are being taken to introduce a simplified visa process for Pakistani citizens in the near future.

The talks also covered strategies to strengthen bilateral cooperation in tourism, trade and economy.

A key feature of the visit was Tajikistan’s commitment to promoting barter trade, especially in the agricultural products sector. Both sides expressed optimism about establishing long-term, mutually beneficial economic relations.

Sardar Yasir Ilyas described the visit as a testament to the growing friendship between Pakistan and Tajikistan, emphasizing the goal of building a lasting partnership and expanding mutual business opportunities.

In a separate meeting with Tajik Minister of Industry and Technology Sher Ali Kabir, the two sides stressed the importance of improved cooperation between business communities.

Pakistan invited a Tajik trade delegation to visit, and agreements were reached to boost exports in sectors such as textiles, leather, and construction materials.
