ISLAMABAD: To give ease to the public, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the 24/7 passport office service in the country’s two largest cities Karachi and Lahore on Sunday.
Taking on X, the Interior Minister said that at least one passport office will be open 24/7 in Lahore and Karachi to facilitate the public at any time.
This step will make it easier for citizens residing in Lahore and Karachi to access passport services anytime outside of regular business hours, accommodating diverse schedules and minimizing any inconvenience caused by time constraints.

The move is expected to significantly alleviate the burden on existing passport offices and reduce waiting times for applicants. It will cater to the needs of a large number of individuals, including those who may find it difficult to visit during standard working hours due to personal or professional commitments.
According to the reports, over 800,000 passports are currently pending printing, but this backlog is expected to be cleared soon as the Finance Ministry has allotted funds to purchase printing, e-passport equipment, and lamination paper.
