In Perth, Australia and Pakistan are playing the first match of the three-match Benaud-Qadir Trophy.

PERTH: Travis Head was once again named co-captain by Australian captain Pat Cummins, who also announced the playing XI for the opening Test match of the series against Pakistan on Wednesday.

The first leg of the three-match Benaud-Qadir Trophy is being played in Perth between the two teams.

Smith will continue to be the top choice to assume captaincy in Cummins’ absence, but there were no other shocking announcements in the Australian captain Cummins’ squad for the men’s international summer campaign.

The only alteration to the team that participated in the August Ashes final at The Oval was the return of Todd Murphy in favor of the fit-again Nathan Lyon.

The three elite pace bowlers, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Cummins, will get back together after helping Australia win the World Cup last month.

David Warner, who has been in the news a lot in the lead-up to this game due to his position on the team, will bat first.

The 37-year-old will hang up his boots after this series’ final game in Sydney if he is selected.

For the first time, Mitch Marsh will take the field in front of his home supporters at Perth Stadium in a Test match. Despite losing to Cameron Green in the Ashes, the 32-year-old is still the preferred all-rounder.
