PDMA issues alert as rain, snowfall continue

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has predicted a new series of rain and snowfall in different parts of the country from today.

Due to the arrival of a new series of westerly winds in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from today to January 27, more rain and snowfall are expected in different parts of the country.

The westerly winds are likely to enter the western parts of the country tonight and will engulf the upper parts of the country by Monday.

More rain and snowfall in the upper districts have been predicted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tonight to Tuesday, with heavy snowfall expected at a few places in the upper areas.

The PDMA says that due to the rain and snowfall, there is a risk of landslides and avalanches in the upper districts.

Rain is expected in Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Murree and Galiat and snowfall in the mountainous areas. There may be intermittent rain in different parts of Punjab.

Thunderstorms are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera and Kohat. Roads are closed and slippery due to snowfall in Naran, Kaghan, Kalam and Chitral.

Snowfall is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Saifullah and Qila Abdullah. Heavy rain with strong winds is expected in Gwadar, Khuzdar, Awaran, Chagai, Panjgur and Kech.
