KABUL: Heavy rain and snowfall in Afghanistan, killing 61 people and injuring more than 100 in landslides and other incidents.
According to the news agency, more than 450 houses have been completely or partially destroyed as a result of rain and snowfall that has been ongoing since Wednesday in the Afghan provinces of Parwan, Wardak, southern Kandahar, northern Jawzjan, Faryab and central Bamyan, including other areas.
Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority said that major highways and inter-provincial roads have been closed due to fears of heavy snowfall and avalanches, and livestock has also been damaged.
The Meteorological Department says that more snowfall is likely in different parts of Afghanistan this week.
