ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has issued a travel advisory for passengers due to road closures on key routes between Lahore and Islamabad, which may lead to possible delays in flight operations.
A spokesperson for the national airline explained that the ongoing road closures, mainly due to protests by a religious group, are hindering access to the airport for airline staff, further delaying flight schedules.
As a result, passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly.
In the advisory, PIA stressed that passengers should reach the airport at least 4 to 5 hours before the departure of their flight in view of the closures on major highways.
Protest-related closures have affected several major roads, including GT Road and motorways, especially around Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore.
In addition, the Chenab toll plaza in Wazirabad has been closed with containers, causing additional congestion on the roads.
As a result of these closures, many passengers have opted for alternative transport routes to airports and railway stations to avoid the affected roads.
Passengers are urged to remain aware of the situation and take necessary precautions while heading towards the airport.
