The start of a direct route to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is detailed in PIA’s weekly flight schedule, which is available on its official website. Starting on April 29, Mondays at 3:40 PM, Skardu Airport will be the departure point for flight PK-211, which will arrive at Dubai International Airport. Beginning on May 3, the return flight, PK-234, will depart from Dubai for Skardu every Friday at 4:25 AM.

On August 14, 2018, the airline operated its first international flight from Dubai to Skardu, carrying 80 people and opening a new route for it in the scenic area.

To help with the increasing number of visitors to Gilgit-Baltistan, PIA is starting summer season flights between Lahore and Gilgit on April 22 in addition to the Skardu-Dubai route. These flights will use the ATR 42-500 turboprop aircraft, and they will operate twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.

Since April 3, PIA has been operating an Airbus A320, registration AP-BLC, on a biweekly schedule from Lahore to Skardu under flight number PK455, which further enhances the region’s connectivity.

The Baltistan Region, renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural legacy, is projected to see a major increase in tourism, trekking, and adventures with the restoration of international flights from Skardu. In addition to raising the region’s profile internationally, the initiative is expected to boost economic expansion by promoting cross-border travel, trade, and cultural exchanges.
